Dear Pastor and Praying Friends,

 

It has been a very busy couple of months for our family. We left South Africa June 1st to return to North America on a short furlough. We had a great couple of weeks with my wife’s parents in Colorado where our children enjoyed getting reacquainted with their grandparents. We then travelled to Canada and were able to visit with some of my family, as we travelled throughout Alberta and the interior of British Columbia reporting to some supporting churches. It was a blessing to be with family and renew many friendships in churches along the way. We were also able to renew our driver’s licenses and take care of some needed things that we cannot do from overseas. We thank the Lord for the health, safety, and protection that He has given us as we travel.

 We are now in Ontario where I have had the privilege of preaching several weeks of Camp Y.E.S. It was a blessing to see some youth trust Christ as their Saviour, and others make decisions to get involved in serving the Lord. It has also been a busy but very enjoyable time of getting to know our new home church, Harvester’s Baptist Church, as well as developing new friendships. My wife and children have also enjoyed being able to stay in one place and to help throughout the various weeks of camp. On the weekends we have been busy travelling and reporting to supporting churches, but with only a few weeks left, we are looking forward to going home to Africa. Please continue to pray for us as we travel home on August 31st

Because of the short time we have been able to return on furlough, there are many friends and supporting churches that we were not able to travel and see. We have made a short video update on what is taking place with the land and our need for a building and an update on the Bible Institute.

God is beginning to supply the finances and we are excited about what is ahead. Please pray that God would supply all that will be needed and that the building plans will be quickly approved by the municipality. If you would like to help with the building cost, when sending it to our home church, please mark it for Hope Baptist Church building.

The Bible Institute has just restarted with 8 students full-time this term. It is always a blessing to hear how those who have already graduated are continuing to serve God and reach out further with the Gospel. There is a great need to keep training young people for ministry, but with it there comes a cost. Inflation has hit hard in South Africa as well as the rest of the world, and with more students attending the Bible Institute the costs are increasing. When the young people attend Institute, most of the time their families are not able or willing to help them study to serve the Lord, so we provide opportunities for work scholarships for them with what God supplies. We would like to ask you as friends and churches that support us to prayerfully consider supporting the Bible Institute monthly as well. You can do this by sending support to Harvester’s Baptist Church and designating it for the South Africa Bible Institute.

The ministries in South Africa are going well in our absence, and we appreciate your prayers for Marcus and Raymond as they oversee them. All of our Covid restrictions have been removed, and as September will be the start of our spring, we are looking forward to restarting some more ministries and preparing for camps and Holiday Bible Schools this December. Please pray for wisdom to make the best use of the opportunities we have to reach people with the gospel.
